(Pocket Lint) – Xiaomi is breaking new ground when it comes to branding its products. In the future, none of his new devices will be nicknamed “Mi”.
The brand name Mi has been used in practically every product category that Xiaomi is involved in for years. Be it the smartphone series (including the current Mi 11 series), toothbrushes, fitness bands, refrigerators, televisions, air purifiers or scooters. Almost all of them as featured by the label.
As of the Xiaomi Mix 4, the naming convention changes. Earlier phones in the Mix series were called “Mi Mix”. The company confirmed the change of direction to the XDA developers. His report said that “a representative from XDA said all of its upcoming products will follow suit.”
If each range follows the same example as the Mix range, it could mean that the next flagship line of phones is simply called the Xiaomi 12 range.
XDA’s report does not detail the reasons for this shift in labeling approach, but it could add more prominence to the Xiaomi brand. After all, most of them refer to his devices as “Mi – something”.
As an example, it is more likely that in the conversation you are talking about the “Mi 11” phone rather than “Xiaomi Mi 11” or “Mi Band” instead of “Xiaomi Mi Band”. By doing it to Xiaomi [Product name/number] in the future, you are essentially forced to know the manufacturer’s brand name.
Since Xiaomi is now one of the top-selling smartphone brands in the world, it now wants more people to know its name. Or – at least – that’s the theory.
